The Australian Little Athletics Championships for the Under 13 age group and Multi Event Championships (MEC's) for the Under 15 age group are a wonderful opportunity for selected under 13's and under 15's to represent the ACT at the Australian Little Athletics Championships in Brisbane from 22nd to 26th April 2010.

UNDER 13's

  • It is a team's championship where each team member obtains points according to their placing in each event they compete in
  • There are 2 representatives from the ACT in all 13 events plus relays in boys and girls but only a maximum of 22 athletes can be chosen to cover all the events
  • Selection is centred on obtaining the best overall team score.
  • A key measure in selection is the relative strength of an athlete's performances compared to prevsious championship results

UNDER 15's

  • 2 males and 2 females will be selected to represent the ACT in the multi-events championship
  • The multi-event consists of 5 events:      100m, Discus, Long Jump, Hurdles and 800m
  • Athletes score points for each event based on a performance scale. The points are added together to give a total score
  • Selection is based primarily on the total number of points achieved at the multi-event selection trial which will be held on Monday 8th March at the AIS athletic track commencing at 4pm. Order of events will be as follows: Long Jump, 100m, hurdles (90m girls, 100m boys), discus and 800m. Athletes attending the trials are required to wear their Centre uniform including registration number and must be warmed up and ready to start competition at 4.00pm.
